AMP must approve all artwork.
- Artwork sizing: Transformers vary in size (approximately 72” H x 38” W x 35” D), shape and have various seams, doors, and handles. Work may have to be adjusted to fit an individual utility box.
- Artwork must comply with one of the two themes below:
- Sustainability: Art reflecting the ways in which the community can reduce its carbon footprint through renewable power sources, cleaner transportation, shopping local, supporting local farmers, recycling and reusing, and water and energy conservation.
- Historical: Art reflecting the city of Alameda’s history and character, enhancing civic pride and a sense of place.
- Artwork must be original, or the applicant must have signed permission from the artist to use it.
- Avoid the use of dark colors over large areas, as this may cause the transformer to absorb heat and damage equipment
- Artwork must be positive and suitable for viewing by all ages.
- A project will be ineligible if the artwork:
- Is a collage or has anything glued onto the box
- Contains a copyrighted or trademarked image or logo, or a brand or business name
- Is plagiarized, stolen or copied from another source
- Could be reasonably construed as false or fraudulent
- Contains:
- Obscene matter, as defined in California Penal Code Section 311 or any successive legislation
- Harmful matter for minors, as defined in California Penal Code Section 313 or any successive legislation
- Child pornography, as defined in 1 8 U. S.C. Section 2256, or California Penal Code Section 311.1(a) or 311
