Outage Affects 6,800 Alamedans

Alameda, Calif., January 7, 2011, 6:29 a.m. – Power has been restored to approximately 6,800 Alamedans affected by an electrical outage this morning.

Alameda Municipal Power reports that the outage began at approximately 4:18 a.m. today and affected customers in an area generally bounded Pearl and Willow Streets from Alameda Towne Centre to the Estuary, as well as portions of Bay Farm Island

AMP crews were able to restore power to 3,800 customers by 5:51 a.m. through switching, after a safety and operational assessment was completed.  Crews continued restoration efforts for all remaining customers, completing them by 6:29 a.m.
