Traffic and Parking Advisory for North End of Grand Street
ALAMEDA, Calif. – Alameda Municipal Power (AMP) today announced anticipated traffic and parking advisories between April 24 and April 29 related to its construction of a second electrical crossing to Coast Guard Island. The area of Grand Street between Clement Street and the boat ramp will be impacted for a period of up to 12 hours between April 24-29 (excluding Saturday and Sunday). While two-way traffic will be maintained, parking will not be available on either side of the street and access to the boat ramp will not be permitted. Access to Fortmann Way will not be affected.
AMP is installing 1,600 feet of electrical conduit beneath the Oakland Estuary to bring additional power to Coast Guard Island. A bore hole is currently being drilled beneath the estuary to connect Coast Guard Island to Alameda. The conduit is being assembled along Clement Street near Ohlone, Paru and Hibbard Streets and through the former Chipman property.
A specific date for the 12-hour traffic/parking change is not available at this time due to the nature of the drilling, which started on Coast Guard Island and will end near the corner of Grand Street and Fortmann Way.
For the latest information, please check AMP’s website. Information will also be posted to the utility’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
