Public Utilities Board Approves FY 2018 Budget
ALAMEDA, CA – At its regular meeting on June 26, the City of Alameda’s Public Utilities Board approved Alameda Municipal Power’s (AMP) budget of approximately $64 million for fiscal year (FY) 2018. The budget reflects the priorities set by the Board through its adopted strategic plan, the annual planning workshop held in February 2017, and the annual budget workshop held in April 2017. Major projects for FY 2018 include the rollout of AMP’s smart-technology program, Energy inView; the launch of a low-income energy savings program; and funding to establish underground utility districts. The rates for AMP’s residential customers average 16 percent less than those of neighboring communities, such as Oakland and Berkeley. AMP serves the community with a reliability record within the top quartile of all western U.S. utilities. As a 130-year-old community-owned electric utility, AMP does not generate a profit on rates. AMP’s 2018 fiscal year begins on July 1, 2017 and runs through June 30, 2018. The FY 2018 budget materials are available at alamedamp.com. About AMPAlameda Municipal Power (AMP) is a department of the city of Alameda that has served residents and businesses for 132 years. AMP provides power to more than 34,000 customers at rates that average 17 percent below neighboring communities. Contact
