The Power Content Label is an annual report that shows where your electricity was generated during the calendar year and how it compares to the State of California’s power mix. AMP’s power mix meets California’s requirements for clean power.

During 2015, 20 percent of AMP’s power mix came from renewable resources, including biomass (landfill gas) from Pittsburg, Butte, Santa Cruz and Richmond; small hydroelectric from Graeagle; and winds from the High Winds Project in Sonoma County. An additional 10 percent of our power mix came from large hydroelectric projects in Calaveras and Central Valley (California does not count power from large hydroelectric dams as renewable).

While AMP’s power mix meets California’s requirements for clean power, it has dropped due to the short-term sale of a portion of the utility’s excess renewable energy. AMP continues to own the same generation resources and, after December 2016, the utility will return to providing a high level of renewable energy to customers. Even better, overall greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions will be lower after 2016 due to the projects paid for by the short-term sale of some of AMP’s excess renewable energy.
