Alameda Municipal Power Customers Make Solar Program a Success

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The remaining funds in a $4.2 million solar rebate program for Alameda Municipal Power’s (AMP) commercial and residential customers have been committed to a local solar project, demonstrating the community’s support of clean, sustainable and renewable power. Harbor Bay One LLC’s solar project recently became the final project to reserve the solar program funding.

AMP’s Front Parking Lot Under Construction in Late July

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The front lot of Alameda Municipal Power’s Service Center at 2000 Grand Street will be unavailable for parking from Friday, July 22 through Saturday, July 23. During this time, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and payment boxes located in the parking lot will also be inaccessible.

ALAMEDA, Calif. – Glenn Steiger, the general manager of Alameda Municipal Power (AMP), has announced his retirement effective September 2. Steiger has served as general manager of Alameda’s community-owned utility since 2014.

New Board to Begin Planning for Undergrounding Power Lines

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The city of Alameda’s “undergrounding” program, in which overhead power lines and equipment are moved underground, is the focus of a new District Nomination Board. Composed of four members of the public and one member from the Public Works Department, the Board will hold its kick-off meeting on June 30.

Alameda's Public Utilities Board Sets July Electric Rate Changes

Starting July 1, changes to electricity rates will go into effect for residential and commercial customers in the City of Alameda. At its April 18 meeting, the Public Utilities Board approved a 5 percent overall rate increase to help replace aging infrastructure while maintain­ing reliable service for customers. The rate changes also address increased transmission and power supply costs.
